Mhairi Calvey – Boat Story

Mhairi will be guest-starring as PC Jenny in BBC thriller Boat Story.

When two hard-up strangers, Janet and Samuel, stumble across a – wait for it – haul of cocaine on a shipwrecked boat, they can’t believe their luck.

So rather than hand it in to the authorities, the duo decide to form a partnership of sorts: they will sell the drugs, split the cash, and become rich beyond their wildest dreams – before parting ways once again.

Naturally, though, it isn’t quite that easy. Because not only do Janet and Samuel find themselves entangled with police, but they also become targeted by masked hitmen… and a sharp-suited gangster known only as ‘The Tailor’.

Will they survive long enough to take their cash to the bank? Only time will tell…

Boat Story begins on Sunday, 19 November at 9PM on BBC One.

Julie Barclay – U-Boat War Gamers

Julie plays the role of Vera Laughton in U-Boat War Gamers, a new six-part docuseries on Sky History.

January 1943: Admiral Karl Dönitz, head of the Nazis’ U-boat fleet, has brought Britain to the brink of starvation by ruthlessly destroying close to a thousand of their merchant ships. If the transatlantic shipping route is cut off, the Allies will lose their last foothold in Western Europe. The Royal Navy turns to retired war gamer Gilbert Roberts. Roberts is to use war gaming to try to decipher and combat Dönitz’s tactics. To do this, he needs a team, but the Navy can’t spare any men. Instead, he risks the ridicule of high command by turning to the Women’s Royal Navy Service (WRNS) to war game the U-boats’ tactics. In partnership with Jean Laidlaw, one of Britain’s first female chartered accountants, and a small team of resourceful female mathematicians, Roberts acts out naval battles and games the U-boats’ moves on a linoleum floor, using chalk and wooden model ships.  

War Gamers airs on Sky History from Tuesday 21st February.

James Boyland – The Witcher: Blood Origin

James will feature as a member of the spectral Wild Hunt in the high fantasy series The Witcher: Blood Origin which will be released on Christmas Day this year.

Set 1200 years before the events of The Witcher, this prequel takes place during the cataclysmic event known as the Conjunction of the Spheres, when multiple realities converge upon each other allowing all manner of unimaginable creatures and monsters to move onto the Continent. 

At a time when the Elves are the dominant species in the world, new arrivals from parallel dimensions will soon make their presence known, most crucially an ambitious people from beyond the veil known as Humans.

As humanity challenges the Elven hegemony they will seek to carve out a new place in the world, resulting in the crumbling of Elven civilisation and the rise of a new kind of mutated human designed to combat the fresh horrors of their new world, the Witchers.

Jumoké co-stars as Oyin in ITV and Amazon Studios’ Riches, which is now on ITVX from December 22nd. 

Written by Abby Ajayi, co-creator of How to Get Away With Murder, it will follow the lives of the mega-wealthy Richards family as they fight over the ownership of the family business.

After family patriarch Stephen (Hugh Quarshie) is suddenly stricken by stroke, his estranged daughter (Deborah Ayorinde) and his second wife (Sarah Niles) vie for control of the high-end fashion brand Flair and Glory which has dominated the Black British fashion industry for decades.

David Bark-Jones- The Confessions of Frannie Langton

David can be seen in  Drama Republic’s 1st ITV commission 4 part drama The Confessions of Frannie Langton. 

Based off the Costa First Novel Award-winning book by Sara Collins, it follows the young Frannie Langton who was born into a life of bondage and fights tooth-and-nail to tell her own story. 

Committing to historical authenticity, it charts Frannie’s journey from a sugar plantation on Jamaica to the opulent Mayfair home of her new owner, scientist George Benham, and his stunning wife Marguerite whom Frannie ends up passionately in love with.

However, after George and Marguerite Benham are found murdered in their beds, Frannie is accused of murder and dragged to prison.

Frannie must desperately try to piece together the events of that night in her mind as well as a crippling addition to laudanum, the liquid form of Opium.
