Ella Rappich & Anita Olatunji – Quicksand

Ella plays the supporting role of Amanda Steen, who is the best friend of the lead who is on trial for murder.

Anita plays the only American speaking role in the series of Barbara Collins, who was a guest Economics Lecturer at the school, prior to the shooting. 

This is Sweden’s first original Netflix series which premiered on the 15th of February at the Berlin International Film Festival, has its Swedish premiere on March 27th, before launching worldwide on Netflix on the 5th of April.

After a mass shooting at a private school in Stockholm’s wealthiest suburb, high-school student Maja finds herself on trial for murder, even her best friend Amanda.

Cary Crankson – Country Music

Cary starred as Jamie in Simon Stephens’ Country Music, which ran from the 29th of May to the 23rd of June at Clapham’s Omnibus Theatre.

Directed by two-time Offie-nominated Scott Le Crass, it tells the story of Jamie Carris, starting in 1983 in Gravesend with the committal of a crime which he doesn’t realise will shape the next 2 decades of his life. 

From the multi-award-winning writer of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, this is a play about protection, atonement, but also how our experiences and circumstances may define who were are but not necessarily who we will become. 

It has received a immense amount of critical acclaim with outlets calling it a Must-See especially focusing on Cary’s performance as Jamie with The Stage calling it “Flat-out Revelatory.”

Molly Nutley – Thicker Than Water

Molly has recently filmed the Third Series of Erik Lejonborg’s Thicker than Water (Tjockare än vatten) airing on Channel 4 as part of their ‘Walter Presents’ platform later this year. Molly co-stars as Kim Waldemar. 

Three siblings of the Waldemar family have reunited at their mother’s guesthouse in Aaland at the start of the summer. After Anna-Lisa takes her own life the siblings Lasse, Jonna and Oskar discover that her will requires them to spend the season running the family’s guesthouse for a year before any of them can inherit it from her. 

Secrets from 20 years ago and from more recent times are uncovered, as well as one body, as the siblings attempt to overcome their differences for the sake of their mother…and her substantial estate.

Stefanie Powers -William Holden Wildlife Foundation 35th Anniversary

It is with great pleasure that we share with you the celebration of the William Holden Wildlife Foundation’s 35th anniversary commemorating the inauguration of the completed Education Center in Nanyuki, Kenya.

The ceremony will occur at the Center on the 13th of April in the presence of the chief honoured guest Her Excellency Margaret Kenyatta, First Lady of the Republic of Kenya, along with an esteemed guest list including the US Ambassador to Kenya.

With Stefanie Powers as its president, the Foundation is determined to foster a better understanding of the crucial role flora and fauna play in the quality of life and its sustenance on the planet by showing practical methods of sustainability.

The Foundation aims to teach renewable alternatives to habitat destruction and to enlighten visitors and students to the innovations of energy production with low environmental impact.

Their educational programmes are attended by around 11,000 students every year from all over Kenya with lectures and guided tours of the Mt. Kenya Wildlife Conservancy.

In addition, they also run outreach programmes to 6 schools in rural areas and their communities, amounting to a further 6000 students per year.

As part of the William Holden Wildlife Education Center it includes many different examples of renewable agriculture and farming and, remarkably, the first breeding herd of Chilean llamas in Africa.

Alexandra Afryea & Sona Vyas Dunne – TV BAFTA Nominations

Overjoyed to say that Alex and Sona both featured in shows nominated in the 2019 Television BAFTAs.

Alexandra plays the role of Nurse Alice Darwin in Jimmy McGovern and Gillian Juckes’ Care which has been nominated for Best Single Drama.

Sheridan Smith plays Jenny, a single mother whose husband abandons her and her two daughters, only to be supported by her mother, Mary. However, Jenny struggles to stay afloat after Mary’s health starts to deteriorate.

Sonya appears in the workplace comedy Stath Lets Flats which has been nominated for Best Scripted Comedy.

Stath Lets Flats revolves around Stath (Jamie Demetriou), a chaotic but well mannered letting agent who tries to prove he is a worthy heir to the family business. Sona features as Helen, a prim and proper middle-class prospective tenant after a large property.

Greg Jones – Carleton Hobbs Bursary Award

It is with great pleasure to announce that our outstanding Greg Jones has won the Carleton Hobbs Radio Award.

Carleton Hobbs was a highly acclaimed actor on film, stage, and television but especially on the airwaves. Hobbs, or ‘Hobbo’ to his friends, was famed for playing Sherlock Holmes in over 80 radio adaptations of Conan Doyle’s stories while being a regular on Children’s Hour and playing everything from a lizard in The Streets of Pompeii to the elderly Adam in As You Like It. Upon his death in 1978 at the age of 80 the BBC’s Student Acting Prize was renamed in his honour. 

Since 1953, BBC Radio Drama has selected 5 award-winners every year from the country’s best drama schools, in Greg’s case that being the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA). The Bursary grants the recipient a highly-prized 5-month contract with the BBC’s highly acclaimed Radio Drama Company.

Michael Geary – Orpheus Descending

Michael costarred as Pee Wee Binnings in Tennessee Williams’ Orpheus Descending which ran at Theatr Clwyd on the 15th of April until the 27th of April before transferring to the Menier Chocolate Factory from the 9th of  May to the 6th of July.

A modern retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus, it is set in a dry goods store in a small southern town defined by conformity, sexual frustration, narrowness and racism. In this scene enters Val: a young man with a guitar, a badass snakeskin jacket, a questionable past and undeniable erotic energy and appeal.

He gets a job at the dry goods store run by a middle-aged woman called Lady whose elderly husband is knocking on death’s door. She finds herself becoming attracted to Val and the new life he seems to offer in the form of a tempting antidote to her loveless marriage and boring hum-drum life. 

The play describes the awakening of passion, love and life as well as its tragic consequences for both Val and Lady.

Katia Elizarova – Hobbs and Shaw

Katia plays a supporting role as the head Flight Attendant in The Fast and Furious Present: Hobbs and Shaw set for release on the 2nd of August!

Part of the Fast and Furious franchise which has grossed over $5 billion worldwide, this spin-off centres around franchise stalwarts Luke Hobbs and Deckard Shaw.

Hobbs, played by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, is a hard-boiled federal agent working for the Diplomatic Security Service. Shaw, played by Jason Statham, is a ex-Special Forces assassin-turned-mercenary who was imprisoned by Hobbs after the events of Furious 7 and The Fate of the Furious.

They are forced to team up with MI6 agent Hattie Shaw (Vanessa Kirby) to defeat Brixton Lore, a genetically & cybernetically-enhanced terrorist leader and criminal mastermind. 

Katia plays a very stern Russian flight attendant who is preparing the passengers for take off but just when they’re ready Dwayne Johnson rocks up by opening the plane’s heavy door – resulting in Katia giving the action mega-star the bollocking of his life!!

Robin Kingsland – The Browning Version

Robin co-stared in Rapture Theatre Company’s The Browning Version which toured across Scotland since February and finished at the East Kilbride Arts Centre on the 10th of March.

Set in an English public boy’s school after the Second World War, it follows Andrew Cocker-Harris who is being forced from his position as the school’s classics master due to ill health.

As he wraps up his final term in office he is shocked to discover that not only has his wife Millie been unfaithful with one of his fellow schoolmasters but also that the students and members of the faculty have long disdained him.  However, after an unexpected act of kindness, Cocker-Harris is made to re-evaluate his life’s work.

Laoisha O’Callaghan – The Omission of the Family Coleman

Laoisha is co-starred as Mary in Claudio Tolachir’s The Omission of the Family Coleman, which ran as part of the Season of UK Premieres from the Americas at the Theatre Royal Bath’s Ustinov Studio from 28th of March to the 27th of April.

Directed by the Ustinov Studio’s Artistic Director, the Olivier Award-Winning Laurence Boswell, this absurdist comedy has already won a plethora of awards in its native Argentina and abroad. 

Three generations of the deeply dysfunctional Coleman family live under the same roof constantly at the verge of utter chaos but always held in check by their authoritative grandmother. However, with their matriarch gone, how will the family cope when the their key linchpin vanishes?
