Cassidy Little – The Alienist: Angel of Darkness

Cassidy featured in the Second Season of TNT’s The Alienist, subtitled Angel of Darkness, which released on Netflix UK on October 22nd.

Based off the novels of the same name by Caleb Carr, it follows an ad-hoc team that was brought together in mid-1890s New York to find a serial killer that has been murdering street children.

In the aftermath of a series of gruesome murders of young male prostitutes, newly-appointed police commissioner Teddy Roosevelt, the future 26th President of the United States, calls upon Dr. Laszlo Kreizler (Daniel Brühl), the titular Alienist or a psychiatrist as we’d call him today, and newspaper illustrator John Moore (Luke Evans) to investigate these spate of killings with the utmost secrecy. With Roosevelt’s headstrong secretary Sara Howard (Dakota Fanning) joining them, this completes the principal lineup for the series.

In the second season, set a year later in 1897, we rejoin them with Sara having opened her own private detective agency, John now a reporter for the New York Times, and Laszlo still working at the forefront of psychiatry.

Howard, Kreizler and Moore join forces to help find the kidnapped infant daughter of the Spanish consul. This sends them after another elusive killer while revealing New York’s horrific underbelly of institutional corruption, income inequality, yellow journalism, and the role of women in 1890s society.
