Freddy Elletson – A Midsummer Night’s Dream

Freddy stars as Lysander in Iris Theatre’s upcoming production of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream, running from the 29th of June to the 13th of August.

Iris Theatre is an award-winning theatre company performing out of Inigo Jones’ iconic St Paul’s Church in Covent Garden.

Set in the Athenian countryside, it follows multiple subplots all revolving around the marriage of Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, and Duke Theseus of Athens all on the same moonlight night.

These include romantic drama between four young lovers, a group of terrible actors rehearsing for a play they are booked to perform before the wedding, and the conflict between the King and Queen of the Fairies Oberon and Titania.

The most famous character from the play is also one of the main plot instigators, the mischievous fairy Robin “Puck” Goodfellow. He’s arguably the most famous prankster in literary history, flipping the relationships between the young athenian lovers and turning the melancholy actor Nick Bottom’s head into a donkey’s.
