Andy Owens has joined the cast of PAPADOPOULOS at The Other Palace. 

Based on the hit 2013 indie film, Papadopoulos! tells the story of Greek immigrant Harry Papadopoulos, a self-made millionaire who reigns over a food empire. But when the financial crisis hits, and his empire falls, Harry must reluctantly reunite with his estranged freewheeling brother with a proposition; to re-open the abandoned fish and chip shop they shared in their youth.

Papadopoulos! has a Book and Lyrics by Marcus Markou with Music by John Themis. The workshop reading is directed by Tania Azevedo with musical direction by Tansy Aked and casting by Leon Kay Casting.

The industry showcase for Papadopoulos will take place on the 26th November at The Other Palace.

Stefanie Powers – One November Yankee

Stefanie Powers is starring in Joshua Ravetch’s new play One November Yankee alongside LA Law and Clash of the Titans’ Harry Hamlin.

One November Yankee will send audiences soaring to great heights. One plane, two actors, and three intricately interwoven stories. The play explores human connection brought on by tragedy in the aftermath of a plane crash that ripples across the lives of our characters. The Los Angeles Times calls One November Yankee a ‘haunting and poetic’ flight that ‘unfolds like theatrical origami.’

Robyn Wilson – Easy

Robyn is currently in rehearsals to play the role of Alice in Easy at Blue Elephant Theatre. 

Easy is a powerful new play by Amy Blakelock, exploring what happens when we combine social media, love island ideals, Snapchat and teenage insecurity. An intimate portrait of adolescence today, Easy asks us – why is it so hard to believe we’re good enough as we are?

Easy has been developed in consultation with teachers and teenagers and free PSHE workshops are available for school and youth group bookings. Workshops are supported by the leading UK sexual health charity Brook

Julie Barclay – Martyrs Lane

Julie will feature as Janet in the feature film Martyrs’ Lane, releasing in 2020

Written & directed by Ruth Platt and starring two-time Olivier winner Denise Gough, this psychologically riven haunted house horror/thriller is a deeply personal story of love and loss.

Tearful, worried and worn out from caring for her elderly mother, Janet is dependent on the vicar’s wife Sarah for emotional support.

Jacob Butler – Peter Pan

Jacob co-stars as Michael & Smee in J. M. Barrie’s Peter Pan adapted by Deborah McAndrew, Directed by Mark Babych and running at the Hull Truck Theatre from the 29th of November to the 4th of January 2020.

One of the most famous children’s stories ever written, it follows the adventures of the mischievous free spirit Peter Pan and his never-ending adventures on the island of Neverland with his band of Lost Boys while interacting with fairies, pirates, mermaids, Native Americans and, occasionally, those from outside Neverland.

Corrado Invernizzi – The Name of the Rose

Corrado co-stars as the Minister General of the Franciscans Michele di Cesena in Rai and BBC’s adaptation of Umberto Ecco’s best-selling novel The Name of the Rose, currently airing on BBC 2 Fridays at 9pm.

Released in 1980, Ecco’s debut novel is one of the best selling books ever published selling over 50 million copies worldwide and was listed at number 14 in Le Monde’s 100 Books of the Century.

This adaptation will be an 8-part series directed by Giacomo Battiato & starring John Turturro (who also executive produced and co-scripted the show), Rupert Everett and Damian Hardung.

Opening in 1327 near the wealthy port-city of Pisa, the story unfolds during a period of civil war in Italy between those who supported the Papacy (known as the Guelphs) and those who supported the the Holy Roman Empire (known as the Ghibelines).

Adso of Melk (Hardung), the young son of a German general, wishes to pursue the pious life of a monk while his father orders him to join the army and become a warrior.

Frustrated with his lot in life he runs away from the camp of his father’s army to the city of Florence, where he has a chance encounter with a learned and intelligent English Franciscan friar by the name of William of Baskerville (Turturro). Impressed by Adso’s determination and passion, William takes him on as a novice.

The new pairing make their way to a nearby Benedictine monastery only to find the usually quiet solemn place in disarray – the corpse of one of their brethren has just been discovered.

Alexandra Afryea – Six Underground

Alexandra will appear in Michael Bay’s new project Six Underground releasing onto Netflix on the 13th of December.

With a reported budget of $150 million making it the second most expensive Netflix film behind Will Smith’s Bright, it stars Ryan Reynolds, Mélanie Laurent, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Adria Arjona, Corey Hawkins and Ben Hardy as six wealthy vigilantes who have all faked their deaths in order to slip under the grid and take down notorious criminals.

All numbered 1 to 6, they are lead by Reynold’s character “1” and have joined the team for their skills and their desire to erase the past and change the future.

Ken Christiansen – Strike: Lethal White

Ken is currently filming a role as Maitre d’ Francos in the BBC adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s  Lethal White, directed by Sue Tully and due to air on BBC One in 2020 with US distribution through HBO’s upcoming streaming service HBO Max.

The fourth book in the Cormoran Strike series that J.K. Rowling wrote under her pseudonym Robert Galbraith, it follows private detective Cormoran Strike (played by Tom Burke) and his partner Robin Ellacott (played by Holiday Grainger). 

‘In the grips of psychosis, a young man named Billy Knight (Joseph Quinn) arrives in private detective Cormoran Strike’s (Tom Burke) office telling the story of a child he saw strangled many years ago. Strike is simultaneously hired by government minister Jasper Chiswell (Robert Glenister) to investigate Billy’s brother, Jimmy Knight (Nick Blood), who is blackmailing him. As Strike and his partner Robin work to determine how the cases might be connected, Robin goes undercover in the House of Commons.’

Jacob Butler – Boys

Jacob Butler will be making his on screen debut in BOYS – the new drama from Russell T Davies. 

BOYS will focus on the lives of three young gay men, Richie, Roscoe and Colin, affected by the 1980’s AIDS crisis. Jacob will be playing the role of BENJAMIN who appears in one episode of the series. 

Jacob graduated from ALRA North in 2019.

Lizzie Mounter – Save Me

Lizzie Mounter is currently filming the second series of Sky Atlantic’s Save Me airing later this year, with Lennie James, Suranne Jones and Stephen Graham.

The show centres around Nelson “Nelly” Rowe, a down-and-out whose life is turned upside down when Jody, the estranged daughter he fathered thirteen years ago, suddenly and mysteriously disappears. As ` related disappearance happens again, Nelson will be in the forefront doing it his own way!!
