Ken Christiansen will be playing the role of the Reciter in Pacific Overtures at The Union Theatre.
An isolated Japan, swathed in honour and protected by invincible gods, has a very rude awakening in 1853 by western war ships. A lowly fisherman is sent to insist they turn back only to kick start a chain of events that lead to drastic social change. Pulling on Japanese art forms such as Kabuki and Butoh, this Stephen Sondheim spectacle is an epic tale of how the child becomes the master.
This new production, directed by Michael Strassen (Best Director Off-West End Award 2014 for Billy/Best Production Off-West End Award for Assassins), will run at the Union Theatre from 2nd July – 2nd August 2014.
